Abhaneri is a small village located around 95 kms away from the "Pink City" of Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Known for its beautiful baoris (step wells) and the famous Harshat Mata temple, Abhaneri is supposed to have been established by Raja Chandra.

Many believe that Raja Chandra was in fact Raja Mihir Bhoja, a celebrated king who ruled over the Gurjar kingdom in the 9th century.

Abhaneri was earlier known as Abha Nagari or the city of brightness.

Today, this ancient village is in ruins but yet attracts many tourists from all across the worldChand Baori, a huge step well located near the Harshat Mata Temple is another important attraction

The ideal season to visit Abhaneri is winter (October to March) This famous Harshat Mata temple dates back to the 10th century and is an excellent example of early medieval architecture in Rajasthan.

Though the place is in ruins, it still gives us a fair idea of its former glory.

This ancient town of Dausa was the first capital of the Kacchawaha rulers of Dhundhar. A number of havelies and an old fort are the main attractions of this small town.
